Hello, my name is Hershel Jones, or Coach as the students call me. I have been teaching here in Eastland for 13yrs. I taught seniors Government my first two years and have taught 8th grade American History the last 11.
Teaching my students the importance of history in their lives is a primary goal of mine. We participate in various activities in my classes to achieve these goals. This year we put on a Taste of History program for our parents and teachers. The students were given differents foods from 11 different regions and/or time periods. We enjoyed an evening of food and fellowship with parents and teachers while learning of different food people in America eat.
As a teacher I try to prepare them for as many things that can help them be successfull in school and in life. Passing the TAKS will be a new challenge to prepare for. My students have done very well in the past on their TAAS exams. Hopefully the group that I currently have will do as well.
I am married to a teacher, Tammy,who teaches early childhood at the elementary level. We have a son, Rhett, in the 8th grade. He has been a blessing from God. Our oldest son,Danny, is married and attending college. He too was a blessing from God.
